Heading back to Maine Saturday to trailer my truck back. I'll be removing the transfer case and the bel housing to see what is wrong inside. Will take pictures as i go and do a write up. Got to pick up a few 12 packs tonight as its going to be a long job

Had to winch the truck onto the trailer. Drove home and reversed up my drive, and to get it off i used the winch again, pulled the rope under the truck and hooked to the rear of the trailer and winched in, which in turn pulled the truck backwards :D .
First job is to take out floor panels, gearbox tunnel, seats and seat box. Easier to lift through the cab with a engine hoist than drop to the ground. will post pictures soon.
Jimmy

Plenty of screws and bolts to remove to get every thing out, snapped a few. The diff lock lever can stay but its a good idear to remove the gear stick (one nut and pull off). I also removed one of the doors for easy access. Next job is to remove driveshafts, front and rear. Place a bottle jack under engine oil sump so it stays in place when you remove trans ect. useing and engine hoist, strap the trans and undo T/C mounting brackets, remove slave cylinder and remove bolts holding the bell housing. Now it takes alot of pushing, pulling and farting to release from engine and a bit of fiddling to lift out. That is as far as i got due to being sent the wrong clutch plate. Sorry i didn't get pics of the lift out as i was having a bit of a problem, will take some of it all going back.

Yea that clutch had seen better days. If you quit slipping it so much and driving like a granny it would last you longer Jimmy

I love how the defender just pulls apart like that to remove the tranny from the top. That is awesome.
